““I’ve always tried to find the best songs I can to sing, and they typically fall into two different categories — story songs that have a social significance and love songs that every man would like to say and every woman would like to hear. The latter is where Steve Dorff came in. He wrote a beautiful song called “Through the Years” that ended up being one of the most well-known and requested songs of my career. To write a song that can be applied to so many different situations in life is a real gift, and there’s no doubt Steve is a gifted composer. His successes have been many, and I’ve enjoyed watching him achieve so much with his diverse talent. I’m not sure there is anything he can’t do.””
